Chiloda is a junction, and almost everything about getting treatment from there is decided by that. Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Himmatnagar all pull in different directions, and a couple starting fertility treatment has usually already been told three different things by three different places.
Cosmic Women’s Hospital & IVF Center is at Naroda, on the Ahmedabad arm of that junction. We are not in Chiloda and this page does not pretend otherwise. What it does is answer the question couples from Chiloda actually ask before they commit to a cycle: how many times will I have to come, and which of those days can I move?
What an IVF cycle asks of you
An IVF cycle is not one procedure. It is a month in which a handful of days matter enormously and the rest do not matter much at all. Most couples imagine a long string of hospital visits, and for a couple living outside Ahmedabad that imagined string is often what stops them starting.
In practice a straightforward cycle asks you to come to Naroda three times: once at the start of the cycle, once for the egg collection, and once for the embryo transfer. The monitoring scans in between can be done at a centre near Chiloda and the report sent to us, and the injections are given wherever you are.
| What happens | Where |
|---|---|
| Baseline scan, blood tests, plan for the cycle | At Cosmic, Naroda |
| Monitoring scans during stimulation | A centre near Chiloda, with the report sent to us — we tell you what is to be measured |
| Daily stimulation injections | At home, or with a nurse or clinic near you |
| Trigger injection | Wherever you are, at the exact hour we write down |
| Egg collection | At Cosmic, Naroda |
| Embryo transfer | At Cosmic, Naroda |
| Pregnancy blood test | Any laboratory — send us the report |
The injections are the part people fear, and the part that travels best
Almost every couple asks whether the daily injections mean a daily journey. They do not. The stimulation injections are given subcutaneously with a fine needle, and after being shown once, most women or their husbands give them at home. A clinic or a nurse near Chiloda can also give them. What matters is the hour, not the place.
The three things that cannot be moved
The trigger
A single injection, usually late at night, given at an hour we write down for you. The egg collection is timed from it. If the trigger is given late, the cycle can be compromised — so set an alarm, and do not rely on remembering.
The egg collection
A morning admission, done under a short anaesthetic, and you go home the same day. You must arrive fasting, and someone must come with you because you cannot drive or travel alone afterwards. Your husband’s sample is usually given the same morning, in the hospital, so plan for both of you to be here.
The embryo transfer
Three or five days after the collection, depending on how the embryos develop — you are told which on the day it becomes clear, not before. It is a short outpatient procedure, no anaesthetic, and you walk out afterwards. In some cycles all the embryos are frozen instead and the transfer happens in a later month; that decision is explained to you when it arises and is not a setback.
Plan the collection week, not the whole month. The stretch that is hard to manage from outside the city is the four or five days that run from the trigger to the transfer — two of your three journeys fall inside it. Couples travelling in often arrange to stay with family in Ahmedabad for that week, or simply keep those days free of work. The rest of the cycle fits around an ordinary week at home.
Before any of this: the work-up
Nobody starts a cycle at the first visit. There is an assessment first — both partners, scans, hormone tests and a semen analysis — and for couples travelling in we carry that out as a one-day work-up wherever possible, so the whole assessment is one journey rather than four. The practical detail of that day, including which day of your cycle to travel on, is set out on our page for couples coming from Dehgam and Chiloda.
If you have not yet seen anyone at all and are not sure IVF is even the right conversation, start with what happens at a first gynaecology visit. A good many couples who arrive expecting IVF turn out to need something simpler.

Cosmic is a registered Level 2 ART clinic under the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021. Dr. Bhargavi Khatri (MBBS, MS Obgy — Gold Medalist, FRM) leads the IVF programme and performs the fertility procedures herself — follicular monitoring, ovum pick-up and embryo transfer — along with caesarean sections, deliveries and D&C. Dr. Rahul Khatri (MBBS, MS & DNB Obgy, FMAS), the hospital’s Director, takes the laparoscopic and open gynaecological surgery and the high-risk obstetric care. The laboratory is run by a clinical embryologist, with a visiting andrologist and a visiting anaesthetist on the registered team.

The cycle itself — drugs, laboratory work and the procedures — is quoted to you in writing before anything begins, and the drugs are the part that varies most between one woman and the next. The structure is broken down on our IVF cost in Ahmedabad page, and the treatment itself on our IVF centre page.
If you are already pregnant
The same journey works for antenatal care, and it is worth saying plainly that a pregnancy after IVF is not automatically a complicated one. Scans are done in-house at every stage, obstetric emergency cover runs 24 hours a day, and deliveries and caesarean sections are done here. Where a pregnancy does need watching more closely — a previous caesarean, twins, diabetes, raised blood pressure — that is set out on high-risk pregnancy care.

OPD runs Monday to Saturday, 10.00 am to 8.00 pm, closed Sunday except for emergencies. Dr. Rahul Khatri consults 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm. PC&PNDT: Prenatal sex determination is not done at this hospital and is prohibited by law under the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994. Please do not ask the doctor or the sonographer about the sex of the fetus.
On results: no clinic may advertise or guarantee a success rate, and we do not quote one on this page. What a cycle is likely to achieve depends on age, diagnosis and ovarian reserve, and it is discussed with you individually after the work-up, as the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021 requires.
On the timings above: the days shown are typical for a straightforward cycle. Your own schedule is decided by how your ovaries respond and is written for you as the cycle goes on.
